Adamzhan Bakhtiyar
Performed in BIG
Baktiyar Adamzhan spent his childhood in the Almaty region in the southeast of Kazakhstan. Originally a wrestler, his path changed course when his parents decided he should pursue ballet. He was accepted into the Almaty Choreographic School at the age of nine, and upon graduating, he joined the Almaty Opera and Ballet Theatre.
His rise to stardom began with the newly established Astana Opera, where he was cast by the choreographer in the title role of Yury Grigorovich’s legendary ballet Spartacus. Since then, he has been in high demand both in Kazakhstan and abroad.
Adamzhan has performed extensively across the globe, including in New York, Istanbul, and Astana, and has earned top honors at international competitions — notably the Grand Prix and Gold Medal at the Moscow International Ballet Competition.
He has also appeared as a guest artist with “Roberto Bolle & Friends”, and performed Roland Petit’s Le Jeune Homme et la Mort alongside La Scala’s Nicoletta Manni in Italy, as part of a Rudolf Nureyev memorial gala.
In 2018, he was awarded the State Award of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan for his exceptional contributions to Kazakhstani culture and his success on the world stage.
