Marian is a German dancer born in Berlin, who has received international recognition for his technical prowess and artistic expression.
Marian Walter began his formal ballet training in 1992 at the State Ballet School Berlin. Over the course of eight years, he developed a comprehensive education in classical technique, partnering, and performance, graduating in 2000.
Following his graduation, Walter joined the Bavarian State Ballet at the Munich National Opera, one of Germany’s most respected ballet companies.
In 2002, he returned to Berlin to join Staatsballett Berlin, where his artistry, technical refinement, and stage presence were quickly recognised. He was promoted to Soloist in 2004 and achieved the rank of Principal Dancer in 2010.
Over the course of his career, he has performed leading roles in the classical repertoire, including Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, Albrecht in Giselle, Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Basilio in Don Quixote, The Nutcracker Prince, Des Grieux in Manon, and James in La Sylphide. He has also been featured in neoclassical and contemporary works by choreographers such as George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Mauro Bigonzetti, and Nacho Duato.
Renowned for his exceptional technique and artistic depth, he has earned widespread acclaim for his performances and has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including First Prize at the Vienna Competition, Third Prize at both the International Ballet Competitions in Helsinki and Nagoya, the “Deutscher Tanzpreis Zukunft” (German Dance Prize Future), as well as a nomination for the esteemed “Benois de la Danse”.
